About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join our team at Morson Talent. As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and assess all aspects of project delivery from order receipt to completion.
  • Facilitate collaboration between engineers, designers, and production teams to develop and produce projects.
  • Understand technical information and quality documentation in response to customer requirements.
  • Manage all project phases and address concerns from stakeholders.
  • Manage and control budget costs to ensure profit margin is maintained.
  • Provide leadership and set the tone for project execution.
  • Provide transparency to clients throughout the project and implement EWNs and CEs where necessary.
  • Set up and manage daily calls with customers to ensure a strong relationship is maintained.
  • Provide daily/weekly/monthly reporting summaries to stakeholders.
  • Support clients in navigating technical and commercial assurance requirements.
  • Visit sites to verify project progress and gather stakeholder/customer feedback.
  • Escalate any concerns.
  • Obtain all documentation from customers and validate.
  • Work closely with production and quality departments to accurately plan weekly/monthly workload to achieve project schedule.
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure a strong client relationship is maintained.
  • Monitor labour utilisation and provide reports to support cost recovery for delays.
  • Lead by example on all matters related to HSE.
Scope
  • Participate in meetings and influence decisions where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to maximise value opportunity.
  • Identify gaps in contract clauses related to project delivery and execution.
  • Motivate and lead team members effectively, ensuring they are SQEP and have relevant documentation.
  • Coordinate between Quality, Production, and Engineering departments to ensure right first time and on time delivery of works.
  • Support colleagues and contribute to a team atmosphere to ensure business objectives are met.

Essential Experience, Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking on technical problems.

  • Must be able to interpret mechanical drawings and work instructions.
  • Commercial awareness, including knowledge of NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contracts.
  • Ability to prioritise workshop loading, manage labour, and be a proficient user of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in tools: Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel.
Desirable Experience, Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree-level qualification in Engineering or similar.
  • Project management qualifications such as Prince 2, APM, or PMI.
  • Formal engineering qualification minimum level HND/HNC.
  • Working experience in Industrial, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Awareness of industry-specific regulations, codes, and standards.
