About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our multi-professional community memory team in a specialist NHS Foundation Trust as a Clinical Psychologist at a senior level. The team specializes in providing assessment and interventions to those who are experiencing memory difficulties associated with dementia.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to support dementia diagnosis, post-diagnostic support, and interventions.
  • Offer psychologically informed guidance for family members and paid carers of people with dementia.
  • Work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team and alongside existing Clinical Psychologists in the team.

This varied role gives opportunity for working across the whole span of dementia experiences, including assessment, post-diagnostic support, and systemic interventions for behavior that challenges.

Person Specification
  • Training:
    • Essential: Completion of formal training to meet eligibility as clinical supervisor of Doctoral Trainee Clinical Psychologists.
  • Physical Attributes:
    • Essential: Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post. A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Essential: Caring, Team Player, Commitment to supervision and support.
    • Desirable: A Current driving license and access to a car during the working day is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered for any applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability).
  • Qualifications:
    • Essential: Hons. Degree in Psychology, Doctoral qualification clinical psychology, Appropriate safeguarding training, Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.
    • Desirable: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Significant Post qualification experience in a Setting relevant to the post, HCPC Registration as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Experience:
    • Essential: Completion of supervised clinical practice in the NHS, Ability to work within two models of psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention.
    • Desirable: Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
  • Special Knowledge and Skills:
    • Essential: Communication skills, A Current driving license and access to a car during the working day is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered for any applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability), IT Literate.
    • Desirable: Good Psychometric Assessment skills, Experience of assisting in training of Post Graduate Clinical Psychology Trainees, Exceptional communication skills in verbal, non-verbal, and written modes.
