Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology

Position Overview: We are seeking a Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology to join a prominent teaching Trust in the North East London area. This role can be offered on either a Fixed Term Contract or a Substantive basis.

Healthcare Services: The Trust operates two emergency departments and provides a comprehensive range of acute medical services. It is equipped with specialized facilities including a neuroscience center, a cancer treatment center, and a hyper-acute stroke unit, ensuring high-quality care for patients.
Gastroenterology Department: The Gastroenterology department is well-established and offers a wide array of services for patients with gastrointestinal disorders. The department is jointly led by expert medical and surgical gastroenterologists, ensuring rapid access to diagnostics for patients with GI malignancies through advanced endoscopic procedures.
Training and Development: The Trust is a fully accredited training center for endoscopy and serves as a Regional Training Centre with JAG accreditation. It provides ongoing assessment, treatment, and care for patients with various gastrointestinal and liver conditions.
Endoscopy Unit: The Endoscopy unit is recognized as a designated site for the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Program, performing over 18,000 GI endoscopy procedures annually, thus creating an excellent environment for both clinical practice and training.
Role Responsibilities:
- Participate in regular endoscopy lists.
- Engage in upper and lower GI clinics and Faster Diagnostic Standard (FDS) pathways.
- Contribute to the 24/7 GI bleed on-call rota.
- Access to Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs).
