About the Role

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality planning services, with a strong understanding of planning legislation and policy. You will be responsible for managing complex planning applications, providing expert advice to colleagues and stakeholders, and contributing to the development of our planning policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and resolve complex planning applications, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and legislation.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders on planning matters.
  • Contribute to the development of planning policies and strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate and business plans.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to deliver high-quality planning services.
  • Line manage Senior Planning Officers and Graduate Planners, as delegated by the Development Management Team Manager.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Principal Planner or Senior Planner, with a strong understanding of planning legislation and policy.
  • Educated to degree level in Planning or a relevant subject.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Thorough working knowledge of practices, methodologies, and legislation within Planning.
  • Experience of managing planning appeals, including involvement in hearings and public inquiries.
