Laboratory Analyst

Overview: British Sugar is a leading sugar supplier in the UK, partnering with over 2,400 growers to produce home-grown sugar. We supply around 50% of the UK's sugar market and are proud to be building and supporting a beet sugar industry that works for Britain.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Wissington laboratory day crew on a rotating pattern as part of a job share, working 20 hours per week. The role involves safe sample collection and accurate analysis as per agreed analytical schedules. Improvement (non-routine) analysis to be carried out as required. Results to be recorded and communicated to the factory operations team to facilitate the successful operation of the factory process within defined criteria.

1. Collect samples from designated sample points within the factory environment.
2. Analyse samples using defined methods and calibration routines, recording data and communicating results to the factory team in a timely manner.
3. Use laboratory reporting systems correctly and in a timely manner.
4. Carry out daily laboratory activities in line with laboratory standards.
5. Maintain the highest level of housekeeping in the laboratory environment.
6. Engage in continuous improvement analysis to support factory development.
7. Support plant activities as and when needed.
8. Utilize experience working in a laboratory environment, including waste water treatment, HPLC, GC.
9. Hold a GCSE/GCE or equivalent level qualification in a scientific subject.
