Your Role

The primary objective of this position is to oversee the transport operations at designated sites, ensuring adherence to legal, security, and health safety standards. You will be responsible for achieving service level agreements and key performance indicators while maintaining budgetary and staffing goals. This role involves effective daily management and engagement with transport personnel within the Road distribution sector.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular audits and checks related to health & safety, compliance, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Ensure that all personnel and visitors are aware of their responsibilities under safety policies.
  • Manage obligations under the Operator's licence effectively.
  • Oversee fleet compliance and operations, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are met.
  • Complete all necessary safety training and promote a culture of health & safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to ensure all team members receive relevant training and have appropriate safety equipment.
  • Monitor safety observations and respond promptly to any concerns raised by team members.
  • Ensure the provision and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), conducting regular checks on its condition.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • In-depth knowledge of quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Proven experience in an operational setting with a track record of team leadership and motivation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing transport operations, particularly with the movement of various classes of goods.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Preferably hold a Manager CPC National Road Haulage Certificate.
  • Current knowledge of transport legislation.
  • Flexibility to adapt to business needs.
