Job Summary

This is a role for a qualified chef to work as a second chef in a care home setting. The job offers the opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal food and have a better work-life balance compared to a typical restaurant or hotel environment. Main Duties
  • Assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus for the care home residents.
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, working within budget, and helping to create a warm and efficient environment for the kitchen team.
  • Work with fresh, seasonal produce and have a good understanding of nutrition and HACCP.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks.
  • Assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them.
  • Work with fresh, seasonal food and have a good understanding of nutrition and HACCP.
Requirements
  • A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents.
  • Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in helping lead and inspire a team.
  • A good understanding of nutrition and experience of working with fresh, seasonal food.
