Apprentice Field Service Engineer

Main Purpose of the Position
To carry out maintenance and repairs to industrial equipment on customer sites in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, ensuring accurate documentation of all work performed in accordance with company Health and Safety and Quality procedures.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- To identify, diagnose, and rectify faults on customer equipment, including forklifts, as deemed necessary, and order necessary spare parts in a timely manner.
- To provide reliable information to customers regarding maintenance, repair consultation, and equipment usage, ensuring excellent customer service.
- To adhere to all company Health and Safety, Environmental, and site policies, procedures, and practices, ensuring a safe working environment.
- To ensure accurate completion of automated system and paperwork, including job sheets, timesheets, purchase requisitions, and parts paperwork, within stipulated timeframes and with relevant order numbers.
- To liaise with first-line management for authorization of parts and process order numbers accordingly.
- To collaborate with the Service Controller, customer, and Service Manager to ensure sharing of information regarding individual equipment, including damage or requests for replacement equipment, as well as keeping relevant parties informed of work progress.
- To propose improvements for the implementation of work activities and work conditions.
- To ensure all allocated work is completed and notify Manager or Controller if in arrears.
- To ensure adherence to specified Engineering Standards, Safe Working Practices, and all Company Policies and Procedures at all times.
- To ensure accurate stock levels and movement records.
- To obtain hour meter readings and site information as requested by Controllers and at every visit.
- To maintain company-issued equipment and tooling, including vans, laptops, and printers, in a satisfactory, clean, and safe condition, reporting any failures.
- To work closely with the sales and STR team, referring leads as necessary.
- To work to strict planned schedules and deadlines.
- To take responsibility for van weight and safe/roadworthy condition before use.
- To understand and work towards KPIs related to service, administration, and stock.
- To take on any reasonable additional duties as required by the Manager to ensure the smooth running of the department.
- To actively participate in training days, work meetings, and other meetings for the exchange of information.

Required Functional Competencies/Experience/Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent associated occupation.
- Electrical, hydraulic, and/or mechanical competencies.
- Hold a full and valid driving license.
- Good communication skills for liaising with customers and internal colleagues.
- Sound IT knowledge/skills, including word processing, Excel, and email.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work under own initiative without constant supervision.
- Complete tasks to a high standard.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- A positive and can-do attitude.
- Flexible to adapt to changing role needs.
