Job Title: Welding Instructor

Job Summary:

Rappahannock Community College seeks a skilled Welding Instructor to teach students on skill-sets that are to specified American Welding Society certifications, SMAW; GMAW; FCAW and GTAW. The successful candidate will be committed to academic excellence, continuous improvement through professional development, assessment, program and course development, and creating a collegial environment of civility, collaboration and open communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct students on skill-sets that are to specified American Welding Society certifications, SMAW; GMAW; FCAW and GTAW
  • Instruct students in the use maintenance, and safe operation of tools and equipment
  • Initiate purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment
  • Operate band saw, pipe beveling equipment to provide welding assemblies for training and AWS Test
  • Keep records of daily attendance and student progress
  • Maintain a clean and orderly classroom and lab area

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Considerable welding experience
  • Working knowledge of welding shop Safety Practices and Proper PPE, knowledge of metal fabrication, pipe fitting, and welding machine operation and maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and be able to intermittently stand, walk, bend, push, and pull for continuous hours

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read Welding Drawings and Prints
  • Experience in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW, and Pipe Experience
  • Prior AWS or Mil-STD Welding Certifications
  • Knowledge of AWS Welding Certification procedure
  • Ability to pass AWS Welding Certification test in SMAW and FCAW in the 3G Position, and 6G SMAW and GTAW test required for Pipe
