Job Role
Engaging in the transportation of household and office furnishings, as well as other items, to new locations or storage facilities. Collaborating within teams of varying sizes, from small groups to larger teams.
This position operates on a zero-hours contract basis, with the potential for permanent employment following a successful three-month period demonstrating skill, reliability, and capability.
Key Responsibilities
• Conducting household relocations.
• Facilitating office relocations.
• Managing the intake and outtake of goods from storage.
• Overseeing large-scale projects, such as relocating hospital libraries or educational equipment.
• Handling the transportation of fine art and specialized furniture.
Daily Tasks
- Carefully packaging items prior to removal or storage.
- Wrapping and protecting furniture using specialized materials for international shipping.
- As a specialist packer, you may be required to prepare delicate items, such as china, glass, artwork, and antiques, before the move.
- Utilizing appropriate packaging to safeguard fragile items, including electronics and antiques.
- Dismantling larger furniture pieces for packing and transportation.
- Removing curtains and lifting carpets as necessary.
- Taking down doors, door frames, or windows to facilitate the movement of large furniture.
- Packing items, loading them into vehicles, and ensuring their secure transport.
- Verifying that all goods are secure before departure.
- Driving to the new location, unloading items, reassembling larger pieces, and positioning them according to customer preferences.
- Unpacking and unwrapping furniture and cartons.
Requirements
Working Hours:
Flexible working hours, with assignments as needed. Longer-distance moves may require overnight accommodations in lodgings or vehicles.
Driving License: Preferred but not mandatory.
Experience: Previous experience in removals or a similar role is advantageous.
