In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing our wholesale distribution operations and a small manufacturing unit. Your primary objective will be to ensure adherence to food safety, quality, hygiene, and legal standards through the effective implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive Quality Management System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with Salsa / STS certifications at the manufacturing facility, with plans to transition to BRC Food Safety standards.
- Maintain MSC / ASC and other third-party certifications.
- Uphold BRC Storage & Distribution certification for the distribution operations.
- Conduct thorough internal audits in accordance with the Quality Management System and BRC S&D Standards.
- Manage the Approved Supplier List, ensuring it is updated with new suppliers and products, and implement a supplier audit program based on risk assessments.
- Approve new product codes introduced to the business after reviewing supplier due diligence information, ensuring accurate product labeling.
- Support customer and regulatory audits as necessary.
- Lead investigations into complaints and product non-conformance, focusing on technical issues.
- Ensure that all personnel receive appropriate training related to food safety, quality, hygiene, and legality.
About You:
To excel in this position, you should possess a full clean Drivers Licence and ideally hold a degree in Food Science Technology or a related field, although this is not mandatory. You must be HACCP and Internal Auditor/Lead Auditor qualified. This role is ideal for an emerging Quality Manager or an experienced professional looking to advance their career in the food industry. Demonstrable experience in manufacturing and a solid understanding of relevant food safety legislation, Quality Management Systems, BRC standards, and auditing processes are essential. Strong communication skills are crucial, as you will be customer-focused, organized, and skilled in project management. You should exhibit tenacity and a commitment to seeing tasks through to completion, with exceptional planning and organizational abilities, along with a keen attention to detail.
