About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at Maple View School, a small school with a capacity for 18 children, including 7 residential placements, for children aged 6-16 with a range and complexity of needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support learning in a class of up to 5 children under the direction of the class teacher
- Assist with whole school activities and individualized curriculum pathways
- Work with children with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties and Disabilities, Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties, associated behavioural difficulties and Prader Willi Syndrome
- Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans
- Provide support with daily literacy, numeracy and PSHE activities, as well as horticulture, small animal care, cooking, Outdoor School and community-based activities
Requirements:
- Experience of supporting children with Special Educational Needs
- Understanding of a range of Special Educational Needs
- Ability to play and have fun with children, as well as support more formal aspects of the curriculum
- Flexibility, integrity, resilience and a genuine desire to improve outcomes for children with SEND
