Veterinary Surgeon

S3 Science Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Surgeon to join our client's team. As a key member of the organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and welfare of animals in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior veterinary staff to develop and implement strategies for animal care and welfare
- Provide expert veterinary input on laboratory animal science and related disciplines
- Develop and maintain expertise in surgical procedures and anaesthesia
- Support the implementation of new techniques and technologies to enhance animal care and welfare
- Engage with stakeholders to promote a culture of care and professionalism within the organization
- Provide advice and assistance to staff on the implementation of the three Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) principles
- Deputise for senior veterinary staff as needed and support staff training and development
- Comply with regulatory, quality, and health and safety procedures, including maintaining records and obtaining necessary accreditations
Requirements:
- Veterinary degree with professional registration with the RCVS
- Experience in general practice or laboratory animal care, including surgical skills
- Auditing or inspection experience is advantageous
- Strong commitment to ongoing professional development
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams
- Proficiency in surgical procedures and anaesthesia
- Interest or experience in animal ethics, welfare science, genetics, or related disciplines is desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to evolving challenges
