About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Autism Specialist Teacher to join our team at Educators Wales. As a key member of our Inclusion Service, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with autism and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with autistic learners and those under assessment for ASD, their schools, families, and other professionals to raise awareness and increase expertise and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive practice in the field of autism, adapting your teaching and interactive style to suit a range of ages, settings, and situations.
  • Build strong professional relationships to drive change constructively and support the implementation of Additional Learning Needs strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with local and national initiatives and developments in relation to ALN, emotional health, and wellbeing needs, and the new curriculum.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency teams, including parents and carers, to provide person-centered planning approaches and support.
Requirements
  • A sound understanding of the range of needs of autistic learners and their implications for communication, teaching, and learning.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD within the field of autism.
  • A thorough knowledge of strategies that impact on learners with autism.
  • Additional qualifications in the field of ALN/SEN, or a clear commitment to obtain this qualification.
  • Significant proven teaching experience of working with autistic learners and leading school-based improvement projects in this area.
