Job Summary:

Ford & Slater Limited, a leading DAF Truck dealers group, is seeking an experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician to join our team at our DAF Trucks Depot in Rugby.

About the Role:

  • As a Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician, you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining a wide variety of trucks and vehicles, including fault diagnostics, MOT preparation, and mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • You will ensure that all repairs are carried out according to manufacturers' procedures and in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Additionally, you will be required to attend any technical or development training that is made available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of trucks and vehicles.
  • Fault diagnostics and repair.
  • MOT preparation and testing.
  • Mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Ensuring all repairs are carried out according to manufacturers' procedures and in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Road testing vehicles when required, subject to license restrictions.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician or Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car, or an associated sector.
  • Ideal qualifications include a qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or a time-served Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician.
  • Ability to participate in breakdowns and follow company processes for completing all paperwork, including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
  • General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
  • Full UK driving license.

Working Hours:

Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm. Week 2: Monday to Friday, 1:30pm to 10pm.
