About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Trainee Solicitor to join our team as a Motor Finance Specialist. As a Trainee Solicitor, you will work closely with our General Legal Counsel to support the transformation of our business and provide day-to-day services as an in-house solicitor across various practice areas, including:

  • Commercial Contract Review and Drafting: Review and draft commercial and supplier contracts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Consumer Law and FCA Regulation: Assist the customer complaints team by providing advice on consumer law and FCA regulation.
  • Commercial Lending and Banking: Advise on commercial lending and banking matters, including reviewing and updating customer contracts and documentation.
  • Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Assist with litigation in the evolving field of commission complaints and represent the legal department at internal and external meetings.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that financial advertisements are compliant with FCA and ASA rules.
  • Commercial Agreements: Draft commercial agreements and provide legal updates to management and staff.
  • Company Secretary: Assist the General Legal Counsel as company secretary and ensure that the contract repository is up to date.
  • HR and Employment Law: Advise on HR matters and employment law.

About You:

We are looking for a Trainee Solicitor with a law degree (or equivalent) and a strong interest in the motor industry and/or consumer credit. You should have:

  • Excellent Drafting Skills: Precise drafting ability and a good strategic thinker.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to build good relationships with various stakeholders in the business.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of FCA regulation and consumer law.
  • Commercial Awareness: Understanding of commercial lending and banking.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
