Job Context: As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the home and grounds, collaborating closely with the Maintenance Support manager to ensure a high-quality living environment for elderly residents.

Job Location: The position is primarily based in Northbourne Court, with occasional work in other locations within reasonable distance. Full-time role, predominantly Monday - Friday with occasional weekend shifts, requiring driving ability.

Job Summary: Responsibilities include daily maintenance, caretaking, and grounds maintenance tasks within the home, such as minor repairs, redecoration, and ensuring all duties meet high standards set by Avante Care and Support.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform all aspects of grounds maintenance, including lawn care, pruning, and gardening
  • Conduct internal cyclical redecoration, ensuring a high standard of finish
  • Undertake maintenance repairs and remedial works, including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical tasks
  • Monitor heating and lighting equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency
  • Assist with fire alarm and emergency systems testing, ensuring compliance with safety regulations
  • Conduct routine H&S monitoring, identifying and mitigating potential risks
  • Perform plumbing and carpentry repairs, ensuring a high standard of finish
  • Maintain equipment and assist with furniture moving, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment
  • Ensure all work adheres to health and safety standards, promoting a safe working environment for all
  • Advise on home and grounds improvements, suggesting cost-effective solutions
  • Support management with external contractors, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration

Person Specification:

Essential Experience/Skills:

  • Previous experience in maintenance duties, preferably in a care home environment
  • Sympathetic to the needs of elderly individuals, with a patient and understanding approach
  • Flexibility and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues

Desirable Experience/Skills:

  • Experience in caretaking and grounds maintenance, with a focus on quality and attention to detail
  • Previous work in residential environments, with a understanding of the needs of elderly residents
