Position Overview:
In light of our ongoing success in securing projects, we are on the lookout for proficient Quantity Surveyors with expertise in the Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, Pharmaceutical, Defence, and complex manufacturing industries to enhance our dynamic project controls team.
Your contribution will be vital in overseeing and managing a variety of projects and maintenance tasks, ensuring they meet budgetary constraints and project specifications, while adhering to the terms of individual subcontracts and main contracts.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will possess a robust background in contract and subcontract management, cost control, negotiation of terms and conditions, and reporting, complemented by strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work location will be in Humberside, with a minimum site presence of three days per week.
  • Develop and issue orders for pre-shutdown subcontract requirements and specifications based on various inputs, including historical data and engineering insights.
  • Manage subcontracts throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation to final account and closeout.
  • Provide precise live forecasting and reporting as dictated by stakeholder requirements or project needs.
  • Ensure the client accounting system accurately reflects the status of projects and frame contracts in terms of actual and forecasted revenue, costs, work in progress (WIP), and obligations.
  • Monitor and assess actual costs against baseline estimates, including direct labor, plant and materials, and management bookings, while addressing any variances.
  • Implement robust project controls and deliver accurate progress reporting, including contractor responsibilities, early warnings, payment, compensation events, risks, and opportunities.
  • Maintain comprehensive records to ensure all financial information is readily available for audits and cost assurance.
  • Provide well-founded estimates aligned with project scope, accounting for all risks and opportunities.
  • Align with the overall commercial strategy of our clients to ensure that goals, targets, and objectives are met.
  • Report any withheld, disputed, or disallowed costs to the Project Manager and Project Board, ensuring inadmissible costs are excluded from project/program costs.
  • Actively pursue resolutions for disputed or withheld costs.
  • Participate in Contract Reviews and/or Project Boards as required.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary and engage with the site team to drive commercial performance, ensuring that innovations and improvements are effectively planned and executed.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Strong commercial experience in the Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, and Pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Extensive experience in contract administration, particularly with NEC, IChemE, FIDIC, and/or bespoke contracts.
  • Experience collaborating with operational and project teams.
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in a contracting or customer commercial role.
  • Degree qualified or possess at least 8 years of relevant industry experience.
