Job Title: Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team in Cardiff. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building data pipelines that enable faster, better, data-informed decision-making within the business and for our customers.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for extracting data from various sources, including relational databases, files, and APIs. You will also design and build metadata-driven data pipelines using Python and SQL, in accordance with guidelines set by our Data Architect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build data pipelines using Python and SQL
  • Extract data from various sources, including relational databases, files, and APIs
  • Work closely with the product, data analysts, and data engineering teams to develop, test, and maintain high-quality data processing systems
  • Perform a role as part of an Agile team to develop, test, and maintain high-quality data processing systems
  • Help evolve our data platform with a view towards growth and high throughput
Requirements
  • Experience designing and building autonomous fault-tolerant data pipelines
  • Solid development experience within a commercial environment creating production-grade ETL and ELT pipelines in Python
  • Comfortable implementing data architectures in analytical data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery
  • Hands-on experience with data orchestrators such as Airflow
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
  • Awareness of cloud technology, particularly AWS
  • Hands-on experience of best engineering practices (handling and logging errors, system monitoring, and building human-fault-tolerant applications)
