Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemist/Scientist to join our Yacht Research and Development team. As a key member of our R&D team, you will work on a range of business-critical needs, focusing on existing products and portfolio, with some time supporting development projects for our Coatings operations in Felling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the testing of existing and emerging technologies, products, processes, and coatings systems used within the Yachting industry.
  • Design, develop, carry out, evaluate, and interpret experiments.
  • Report results, propose conclusions, and recommendations within agreed timescales to internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Develop a fundamental understanding of key product and coating attributes and performance.
  • Effectively manage short- and long-term plans for assigned projects and support activities.
  • Support internal and external customer needs, including training colleagues, technical advice, and leading complaint investigations.
  • Identify improvement needs and suggest improvement activities and projects.
  • Work safely and in compliance with company and legal requirements.
Requirements
  • Masters or BSc degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a related science subject.
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment with good laboratory skills, a safe, structured, logical approach, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in structured problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the paints and coatings industry would be advantageous.
  • Able to follow processes and procedures.
