Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Roman Catholic Chaplain at HMP Altcourse. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing spiritual support and care to residents and staff within the prison.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the spiritual needs of residents and staff by facilitating religious services and providing pastoral care.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a safe and supportive environment that promotes the well-being of all individuals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with faith communities outside the prison to promote rehabilitation and reintegration.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to residents in need.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in pastoral care and chaplaincy.
Requirements
  • Ordained Priest or Deacon, Religious Brother or Sister, or a Lay Person with a strong commitment to spiritual care.
  • Experience working in a similar role, preferably in a correctional setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including assertiveness and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and faiths.
  • Proven experience in pastoral care, including crisis intervention.
