As a Compliance and Standards Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to interpret and implement organizational specifications. Leveraging your expertise and technical acumen, you will assess both internal and external adherence to these specifications. You will also provide guidance on technical implementations to both vendors and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize various tools to assess the accessibility of digital publication files.
- Analyze EPUB file coding to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Relay evaluation outcomes to both external and internal content developers.
- Provide an overview of file accessibility status to your direct supervisor.
- Educate internal and external content developers on best practices.
- Address and rectify digital publication files as necessary.
- Act as a resource for team members regarding accessibility requirements and practices.
Qualifications:
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with accessibility principles, particularly:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the European Accessibility Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Insight into technical formats and their application in Academic Publishing.
- Understanding of how accessibility impacts Academic Publishing, its products, and workflows.
- Technical proficiency in product formats relevant to Academic Publishing, specifically HTML5 and CSS3.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve issues effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating solutions to diverse audiences.
