Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our client's finance team on a full-time and permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring the smooth operation of all accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter financial transactions into internal databases
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of ledgers and journals
  • Process invoices and follow up with suppliers as needed
  • Ensure timely payments to suppliers and resolve discrepancies
  • Daily chasing of overdue debt and issuing statements
  • Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and internal records
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Provide support in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting principles
  • Assist in preparing documentation for external and internal audits
  • Provide necessary support during audit processes
  • Responsible for the full end-to-end payroll process for both companies
  • Maintenance of the time & attendance system
  • Support the Financial Controller with general accounting tasks
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Respond to accounting enquiries from management in a timely manner
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

  • 1-2 years minimum of experience in an accounting role preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • A salary of up to £35,000

  • Annual leave of 31 days including Bank holidays (this increases to 32 days after 1 year, and 33 days after 2 years)
