Job Purpose

The Strategic Change Partner is a senior professional focused on driving successful transformation initiatives within their designated College. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the University’s transformation strategies are effectively executed and sustained.

By collaborating with senior management and engaging with staff at all levels, the Strategic Change Partner will facilitate the adoption of meaningful change across the institution.

Utilizing a matrix management framework, this position will support and influence change initiatives, working closely with both academic and administrative leaders to promote a culture of adaptability among staff and students.

This role is essential in enhancing change capabilities within the College and fostering high-level leadership engagement while integrating change expertise across various Schools.

A comprehensive understanding of the strategic environment, specific College and School requirements, and the complexities of the University is vital for the successful execution of transformation efforts.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with College Change Teams to implement the Transformation portfolio effectively.
  2. Establish and lead the College Business Change Steering Group, developing standardized processes for governance and prioritization of change initiatives.
  3. Work closely with the College Management Group to ensure alignment of transformative initiatives with broader strategic objectives, promoting a cohesive approach to achieving desired outcomes.
  4. Provide matrix management for College Transformation Administrator resources, enhancing performance capabilities for effective implementation of change programs.
  5. Support local change resources through matrix management, aligning roles and responsibilities to manage a unified Change Plan for the College.
  6. Partner with College leaders and central service teams to create a proactive talent development pipeline for ongoing projects, while offering hands-on coaching for change resources.
  7. Act as the primary escalation point for all issues related to the change portfolio, ensuring proactive management of risks and challenges.
  8. Contribute to the community of Strategic Change Partners, promoting consistency in approach and sharing best practices across Schools and Colleges.
  9. Serve as a key member of the Transformation delivery community, overseeing the integrated implementation plan and validating resources for College readiness.
  10. Lead the College's preparation for transformational change, including planning, engagement, and communication strategies.
  11. Ensure successful implementation of transformational initiatives, demonstrating that changes have been effectively integrated to achieve expected benefits.
  12. Act as the liaison between the College and Transformation team, ensuring communication and engagement plans are appropriately managed.
  13. Identify and influence stakeholders to facilitate successful delivery of transformational change, providing guidance and support throughout the process.
  14. Encourage a culture of change readiness and resilience within the College, sharing insights and knowledge to build overall change capability.
  15. Network effectively across the College and University, enhancing communication channels within the transformation business partnering team.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification, with extensive professional experience in management roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of change management theory and practice, with a proven track record of successful change delivery.
  • Experience in managing transformative change in large, complex organizations.
  • Strong understanding of the Higher Education sector and its operational dynamics.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in change management or improvement methodologies.
  • Certifications in coaching or organizational development.
  • Project management certifications.

Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strategic thinking and proven leadership abilities.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Resilience and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations and training.

Experience:

  • Significant experience in Higher Education, leading transformational change initiatives.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders to drive change.
  • Experience in managing complex change programs and utilizing improvement methodologies.
