Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

The Team

RPC's Professional & Financial Risks team is on the lookout for a Senior Associate to enhance our Bristol office. This dynamic team operates within the firm's insurance division and boasts a robust client portfolio, representing a significant number of Professional Indemnity Insurers and their clients.

Our team is adept at managing a diverse range of claims involving various professionals, including solicitors, insurance brokers, accountants, and financial advisors. The role primarily focuses on defending liability claims throughout the litigation process, while also providing counsel on related issues such as regulatory matters, risk management, and Ombudsman inquiries. Additionally, we frequently advise insurers on policy coverage concerning claims. Our clientele includes major Professional Indemnity Insurers as well as numerous prominent professional services firms.

Currently, our PFR team comprises 7 partners and approximately 35 associates based in Bristol, with an established presence in London.

The Role

The ideal candidate will collaborate with various partners and attorneys within a vibrant and expanding team. The responsibilities will be diverse, engaging, and intellectually stimulating, providing autonomy and the chance to work on matters across a spectrum of professions, with values ranging from tens of thousands to multi-million-pound claims. There will also be opportunities to engage in business development and client initiatives.

Our team is highly regarded for Professional Negligence in both Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing a portfolio of Professional Indemnity claims, including coverage matters.
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality and timely services to clients, maintaining excellent client service standards and adherence to established practices and service level agreements.
  • Contributing to the enhancement and evolution of the team's services, support, processes, and procedures.
  • Upholding the values and behaviors that define our client-focused approach.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and assisting colleagues, while taking ownership of team development aspects such as training, process enhancements, and intranet resources.
  • Collecting and organizing necessary Management Information in line with client agreements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Approximately 5+ years of post-qualification experience or equivalent relevant expertise.
  • Proficiency in professional indemnity litigation; experience in insurance is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to provide legal and commercial solutions, collaborating effectively with clients and colleagues to ensure an exceptional client experience.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing and nurturing strong client relationships, grounded in an understanding of their business goals.
  • Commitment to business development to further enhance the practice, identifying and cultivating commercial opportunities while encouraging team participation.
  • Efficient and commercially aware, understanding the significance of financial management and sharing that insight with the team.
  • A collaborative leader who mentors and develops junior team members to reach their full potential.
