Job Title: Workshop Engineer/Manager

Production Futures is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Engineer/Manager to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for the daily management of our service department, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and repaired to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily operations of the service department, including staff recruitment, performance reviews, and appraisals.
  • Ensure compliance with all company and industry health and safety regulations, including fire precautions and emergency procedures.
  • Manage the maintenance, test, and repair of IPS equipment, including electrical and LOLER inspections.
  • Liaise with manufacturers for product-specific training for the workshop team.
  • Ensure equipment is quickly returned to service to avoid affecting bookings.
  • Maintain a log of repair costs, including time to charge back for damage due to misuse.
  • Work with IPS suppliers to obtain replacement parts or additional service information as required.
  • Carry out manufacturer and product upgrades as required across all divisions of the business.
  • Liaise with the asset manager to ensure all equipment coming into the business is properly documented and maintained.
  • Maintain workshop and work areas in a clean and orderly state.
  • Identify and undertake appropriate training and development as agreed with your line manager.
  • Act as an ambassador for Production Futures in the representation of the company at exhibitions, meetings, and events.
Requirements:
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact with other employees, industry professionals, suppliers, and customers.
  • Previous experience in service work with equipment in the entertainment industry.
  • Ability to assist with diagnosing and repairing equipment throughout the IPS inventory.
  • Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail to accurately work with the varied IPS equipment inventory.
  • Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently and within a team to meet tight deadlines.
  • Practical qualifications, such as a PAT test qualification or relevant C&G testing certificates, are desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding that the role will require both physical and technical ability.
  • Self-motivated and interested in learning about the industry and new and existing equipment.
  • Passport and eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Basic maths and computer skills are required to complete this role.

  • Competitive salary based on experience, paid monthly on the last working day of the month.
  • Overtime may be available and will be paid after completion of the standard 42.5 hours.
