Academic Lecturer in Accountancy and Finance

The Department of Business and Law at Southampton Solent University is seeking a Lecturer to teach across Accountancy & Finance at undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education levels. We provide a range of undergraduate and postgraduate accountancy and finance degrees through which we deliver an outstanding student experience. Our teaching on these courses was ranked 6th for finance and 6th for accountancy in the 2024 National Student Survey.
We welcome candidates who are looking to embark on a career in academia, building on their professional expertise in industry. The ideal candidate thrives on innovating curriculum, designing, and supporting engaging learning environments that are full of both theory and real-world application. The role would be responsible for ensuring the effective development and delivery of teaching, ensuring that the delivery of modules enhances the student experience, student progression, and attainment, alongside boosting students' employability and positive outcomes.
The role will involve developing and overseeing course content, module leading, research-informed teaching, supervision, designing assessments, pastoral support, and engaging to deliver objectives and uphold the Solent Values. The Business School has a strong network of industry experts and alumni who input into the curriculum, along with live briefs to inform research-led and knowledge exchange programmes.

Therefore, strong knowledge of learning pedagogies is vital, including knowledge of online and blended learning and in developing interactive materials on the virtual learning environments to support the student learning experience. The ideal candidate will be willing to engage in the supportive training available to develop these practices.
During the interview, the shortlisted candidates will be asked to deliver a micro 10-minute teaching session on a topic that is a core element of Accountancy and Finance.
Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
