Role Overview:

The Airfield Lighting Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and functionality of airport operations. In this position, you will be responsible for the routine upkeep, alignment, and installation of all Airfield Ground Lighting systems, including High Mast Lighting, generators, and control mechanisms, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and regulatory codes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Document and maintain records of all maintenance, alignment, and installations as mandated by the relevant Codes of Practice.
  • Perform routine maintenance and installation of additional airport aeronautical ground lighting equipment as directed.
  • Execute other duties of similar responsibility as assigned, in line with your training and expertise.
  • Participate in training sessions as required to ensure compliance with maintenance standards set by regulatory authorities.
  • Implement planned maintenance schedules effectively.
  • Assist in the efficient management of engineering stores.
  • Support the training of junior engineers or apprentices as needed.
  • Ensure all tasks comply with current Electrical Regulations and the company's quality management protocols.

Candidate Profile:

This role requires on-site presence, and candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance. The ideal candidate will possess a background as an electrical engineer or contractor electrician, having completed a recognized apprenticeship, such as NVQ3 in Electrical Installation. Experience in fault finding and holding an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification is essential.

We value a methodical approach to problem-solving, critical thinking skills, and the ability to take initiative. Strong verbal communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with contractors, air traffic control, colleagues, and management. Proficiency in written communication is also vital for producing accurate technical documentation and professional reports.
