The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology is seeking a skilled Greenhouse Gas Field Technician to become part of our dedicated team of 600 professionals. This role is pivotal in advancing scientific research and generating essential data and insights to address intricate environmental issues.

As a Greenhouse Gas Field Technician, you will:
- Conduct field and laboratory data collection as directed by project leaders to ensure the timely and accurate production of high-quality data.
- Assist in the installation, operation, and maintenance of field instruments across a network of eddy covariance sites.
- Support the planning and execution of field measurements and experiments across diverse ecosystems, utilizing innovative techniques.
- Engage with landowners to coordinate routine and reactive fieldwork activities.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols while maintaining detailed records of field activities.
- Exhibit a commitment to continuous improvement and a growth mindset.
This role involves approximately 50% fieldwork, requiring a passion for outdoor activities and a willingness to work in various environments across the southern regions of England. A full UK manual driving license is essential, and while owning a vehicle is not necessary, access to a fleet of vehicles will be provided.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree or equivalent experience in environmental sciences or a related field.
- Experience working in remote outdoor settings and a readiness to conduct independent fieldwork when required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- A flexible approach to meet project objectives, including occasional overnight travel.
- A commitment to professional development and a clear vision for career progression.
- A full UK manual driving license and willingness to travel to remote sites.
