Job Title: Senior Sexual Health Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sexual Health Nurse to join our team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Sexual Health Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with sexual health issues, including HIV and contraception services.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical expertise and coordinate care for patients with sexual health issues.
  • Lead on specific projects and management functions as delegated by the Clinic Manager.
  • Deliver and oversee high standards of care.
Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, and implement high-quality care for patients with sexual health issues.
  • Lead on complex clinical care for patients within the area.
  • Ensure the safe custody, maintenance, and administration of medication.
  • Promote and maintain a safe therapeutic environment for patients, their families, and staff.
  • Maintain a good understanding and implementation of clinical escalation procedures.
  • Understand the Trust clinical governance framework and participate in promoting and safeguarding high standards of care.
  • Ensure that the team promotes, ensures, and adheres to the Trust safeguarding policies.
  • Coordinate and manage nurse-led clinics where appropriate.
  • Monitor quality of standards of care, in line with CQC requirements and Trust and Divisional objectives.
Leadership and Management Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day staffing arrangements and rotas to ensure safe levels of practice.
  • Be a shift coordinator on a regular basis where appropriate.
  • Ensure staff adhere to Trust protocols of care, eg Infection Control.
  • Participate in senior nurse/unit on-call rota/bleep holder as appropriate.
  • Actively support and assist in preceptorship and in pre-registration student support, supervision, and guidance, including mentorship where appropriate.
Professional Development:
  • Maintain professional registration.
  • Ensure mandatory training and a satisfactory appraisal is in date.

Person Specification:

  • Registered Nurse.
  • Successfully completed or willingness to undertake teaching/assessing course.
  • Evidence of professional development.
  • Relevant specialist courses/training.

Experience:

  • Relevant post-registration sexual health or HIV experience at Band 5 level.
  • Wide variety of clinical experience.
  • Proven management experience.
  • Experience of clinical supervision.
