About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Volunteer Counsellor to join our team at VIA, working with young people aged under 18 in Cheshire West and Chester.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a minimum of three and a maximum of six counselling sessions per week to young people.
  • Maintain accurate records of counselling sessions in accordance with VIA's policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with line managers and supervisors to address any issues or concerns.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance therapeutic skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to VIA's policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for clients.
Requirements
  • Be in your final year of an undergraduate degree or equivalent, or at a postgraduate level, in a relevant field such as counselling or psychotherapy.
  • Have a strong understanding of the characteristics of a therapeutic relationship with young people.
  • Be a member of a recognized counselling governing body, such as BACP, UKCP, or BPS.
  • Have conducted a minimum number of counselling hours and be working towards accreditation.
  • Be able to commit to a minimum of one year, where possible.
