Protein Metrology Researcher

LGC's National Laboratories deliver a range of expert science functions and services in partnership with the UK Government, business, healthcare, and academia. We are seeking a highly skilled Researcher to join our Protein Mass Spectrometry team, delivering high-quality measurement research projects to meet current and future analytical challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the development and validation of analytical methods to deliver NML measurement research programmes for government and private sector R&D contract commitments.
- Use advanced instrumental techniques and employ a variety of sample preparation techniques as required.
- Publication and dissemination of scientific developments and achievements.
- Provision of support with the formulation of R&D commercial contracts.
- Build relationships with external stakeholders/collaborators, develop and extend metrology networks to underpin the UK national measurement system.
- Delivery of ad-hoc research commercial projects and reporting results.
- PhD or equivalent experience from industry or academic or clinical research.
- Extensive knowledge of protein structure and dynamics.
- Hand-on experience with HDX-MS, ion mobility mass spectrometry, native MS, CIU and crosslinking for protein structural analysis.
- Experience in the use of sample preparation approaches and hyphenated mass spectrometry for protein quantification is desirable.
- Troubleshooting and method development.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and software for mass spectrometry data analysis.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation related to protein mass spectrometry.
- Good presentation skills, both oral and written.
- Experience of planning long and short-term research projects, working within deadlines and reporting.
