Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Veolia Water Technologies. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for the mechanical design of water processing plants, working closely with clients and internal design engineers to ensure compliance and integration of mechanical elements into the overall plant design.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage workload to achieve design deliverables required of the project/tender.
  2. Liaise with clients and internal design engineers to ensure compliance and integrate mechanical elements into the overall plant design.
  3. Work with CAD designers and other design engineers to create and evolve P&ID, General Arrangement, and detailed drawings to define the plant design.
  4. Prepare and maintain schedules that define the plant design (Valve, equipment, line schedule).
  5. Communicate with site managers and commissioning managers during relevant stages of the project.
  6. Review supply-chain design documentation and integrate into the wider plant design.
  7. Undertake Design Risk Assessment and capture the outcome.
  8. Self-motivated to drive mechanical design processes to meet required project deliverables.
Requirements:
  • Formal education in Mechanical Engineering (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND or BEng/MEng Degree) combined with a proven track record of 7+ years of experience within the municipal or industrial wastewater sectors.
  • Chartered registration (CEng) in Mechanical Engineering will be considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of equipment and technologies commonly used within the water treatment industry.
  • Able to visit customer sites to assist with performance issues and commissioning.
  • Capable of specifying and coordinating work allocated to local teams (within our work office) and remotely between our globally extended teams.
  • Capable of performing mechanical calculations such as hydraulic calculations and FEA.
  • Proficient in Autodesk mechanical modelling software and data management tools such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Vault.
  • Able to compose mechanical specifications and equipment schedules.
  • Fluent with software like Word/Google Docs, Excel/Google Sheets.
