Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday

Overview:
Kingston University operates across multiple campuses and facilities, necessitating regular fire alarm testing to ensure safety compliance. The Fire Alarm Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in executing weekly fire alarm tests across the university's premises, ensuring all results are accurately documented for safety audits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct weekly fire alarm tests in accordance with established schedules.
  • Document results in the Building's Fire Safety logbooks and Nimbus system.
  • Maintain effective communication with fire wardens and staff across various sites.
  • Report any operational faults immediately to the KUSCO FM Helpdesk.
  • Monitor fire safety conditions and report any hazards to the KUSCO FM Helpdesk.
  • Participate in annual fire risk assessments and assist in training sessions as needed.
  • Contribute to fire safety initiatives and best practices.
  • Perform additional duties as required within the scope of the role.

Requirements:
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow operational procedures.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve issues proactively.
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
  • Proficient in recording and administrative tasks.

Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with various fire alarm systems.
  • Knowledge of fire safety protocols and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with Nimbus software.
  • Use of personal vehicle for site visits (mileage reimbursement available).
