Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Expleo. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical solutions for a range of specialist design situations, resolving design issues and problems.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to other designers, ensuring design governance and adherence to technical standards.
  • Work with a high degree of technical autonomy, incorporating Engineer status and contributing to the development of technical solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards, Good Practice Guides, and ISO standards.
  • Design mechanical handling equipment and movement systems, allocating tasks to a team of designers and ensuring inter-discipline coordination.
  • Promote effective co-operation across design and other functional teams, assisting in the management of customers and developing business opportunities.
  • Advise on the selection of methods and tools for tasks, providing technical assistance to designers and contributing to the preparation of drawings.
  • Provide a point of contact for discipline-related issues, contributing to design reviews and ensuring coordination and functionality of design.
  • Assist in the resolution of production and technical queries, developing discipline solutions for the team.
  • Contribute to learning from experience, developing innovative design solutions and fulfilling Design Lead responsibilities.
  • Maintain individual knowledge of current best practice, promoting a culture of best practice in design expertise and leadership.
  • Exercise care for own health and safety and that of others, adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • HNC minimum in a relevant discipline or equivalent academic qualification.
  • Experience in a detailed design environment, with good knowledge of CAD tools and General Engineering Drawing Practice.
  • Incorporated Engineer status and ICF (Integrated Competency Framework) to be demonstrated or being worked towards.
  • Demonstrable experience in technical leading of a multi-disciplined design team, with excellent communications skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Member of a relevant Professional Institute.
  • Breadth and depth of experience in a range of commercial or defence projects.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.

Travel Requirements

Travel may be required to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
