About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Specialist to join our team at BT Security. As a key member of our cyber capabilities team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing state-of-the-art security tools to protect BT, its customers, and the UK from external threat actors.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the design and implementation of security tools and capabilities to support our threat hunting teams.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive collaboration and sharing of best practices within the Software Engineering community.
  3. Contribute to the design and implementation of SIEM functionality, ensuring alignment with requirements, architecture, and high-level solution design.
  4. Develop and lead component design for new security capabilities, including tools, infrastructure, and network security.
  5. Provide technical leadership and design responsibility for one or more platforms.
  6. Design and implement the deployment of new cyber protection infrastructure, ensuring operational readiness and acceptance.
  7. Develop and maintain professional cyber skills and awareness, staying ahead of attackers and developing skills of others in the unit.
  8. Contribute to the development and implementation of operational processes, policies, and procedures, including platform and secops processes.
  9. Provide effective technology coaching and mentoring within and outside the team.
  10. Support 2nd and 3rd line maintenance during cyber attacks, ensuring service availability.
  11. Implement technical proof of concepts to demonstrate architecture or design feasibility and key technical concepts.
  12. Interface with program and project managers to ensure security architecture engagement as necessary.
Requirements
  1. Leadership: strong skills in people leadership and building a high-performance culture.
Experience
  1. Mandatory: 3+ years of experience in design/implementation.
Preferred
  1. SIEM or similar cyber security tool development.
  2. Elastic search design/development skills.
  3. Agile delivery.
