Electronics Design Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join our team at Gooch & Housego's UK Centre of Excellence for Life sciences in Ashford, Kent.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design and development of cutting-edge Life science and Medical products. As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the electronics and firmware design of products from concept through to production, taking into account requirements, timescales, cost, and regulatory constraints.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop digital and analogue electronics and firmware for products from concept to production.
  2. Collaborate with colleagues across the business to support new commercial opportunities and operations.
  3. Work with product management and business development to ensure product requirements are met.
  4. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications and requirements capture.
  5. Conduct prototype build, test, and fault finding.
  6. Ensure compliance with EMC and electrical safety standards.
  7. Generate cost models and perform Rohs analysis.
  8. Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior engineers.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in embedded programming, preferably in 'C' and FPGA VHDL.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout, preferably Altium.
  • Familiarity with EMC compliance design techniques and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Willingness to take on additional tasks as required.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Minimum 8 years of design experience, although exceptional candidates with lower experience may be considered.
