Senior R Modelling Actuary Opportunity

Oldbury Search & Selection Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Senior R Modelling Actuary to join their Model Development and Analytics team in Actuarial Control. The successful candidate will be responsible for building a tool that enables reserving actuaries to fulfill their responsibilities under the quarterly closing process, as well as substantiating and performing ad hoc enquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a tool using R programming language to support reserving actuaries
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement an Agile workflow
  • Utilize Azure DevOps to track and plan work
  • Familiarity with Posit Workbench, Posit Connect, and Posit Package Manager is beneficial

Requirements:

  • Proven R programming skills
  • Solid actuarial/insurance domain knowledge in Life and Health (L&H) or Property & Casualty (P&C)
  • Appreciation of IFRS17 is desirable
  • Strong communication skills

About the Team:

The team works in small teams, using an Agile workflow and R for solution development. They are looking for someone with strong R development skills and exposure to newer technologies such as Rcpp, Arrow, and DuckDB.
