Autism Support Educational Assistant

Location: Melksham, BA14

Hours: 08:30 - 15:30 Part-Time and Full-Time roles available

Protocol Education is collaborating with exceptional primary institutions in Melksham to recruit an Autism Support Worker (ASW) who will partner with educators to implement a tailored, autism-friendly curriculum focusing on both academic and social skills.

The objective of the school is to foster and enhance safe, independent living for students with autism through support, understanding, and empowerment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within educational environments
  • Support classroom activities and facilitate student learning and development
  • Execute individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral management techniques
  • Work collaboratively with educators and families to cultivate a nurturing learning atmosphere
  • Evaluate and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to relevant parties
Essential Qualifications:
  • Experience with individuals with ASD or special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Compassionate, patient, and understanding demeanor towards students
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Understanding of strategies for assisting individuals with ASD
  • Awareness of educational practices and protocols
  • Ability to adjust teaching methodologies to accommodate individual student requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Autism Awareness or similar training
  • First aid certification
Working Environment:
  • Primarily within a school setting
  • Possible occasional travel for training sessions or external meetings
