Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team at RSK Ireland. As a Senior Ecologist, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing medium to large-scale projects and tenders from inception to finalization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and conduct bat surveys, including PRAs of buildings, structures, and trees, emergence/re-entry surveys, activity transects, static detectors, and bat mitigation.
  • Write reports, analyze data, coordinate bat and other ecological surveys, and write bat survey reports.
  • Manage project finance, resource allocation, manage staff and subconsultants, and liaise with clients and authorities, ensuring timely delivery and effective communication.
  • Develop and implement ecological/biodiversity enhancement plans.
  • Produce accurate data analysis and technical bat reports to a professional standard.
  • Input into writing of high-quality technical reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Biodiversity Chapters, Ecological Impact Assessments, and Biodiversity Management Plans.
  • Assist with business development by assisting with quotation preparation and ensuring good client relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with the ecology team to ensure quality projects are delivered on time to our clients.
  • Provide technical advice to clients and ensure good communication and collaboration within the team.
  • Complete fieldwork, including out-of-hours surveys, traveling, and working away from home as required.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • A degree in a relevant discipline or vocation qualification.
  • Full UK/Irish driving license with access to your own vehicle.
  • Membership of CIEEM – level commensurate with experience.
  • Ability to work well within a team and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Pro-active attitude to managing your own time.
  • Bat survey experience in a range of survey types and written reports.
  • Familiar with sound analysis equipment and night vision aids, analysis programs, and analyses and interpretation of sound data and reporting.
  • Experience of personal species-specific licenses (i.e. bats, newts, and/or badger).
