Position Overview

The Electrical Craft Technician will be under the supervision of the field staff supervisor, contributing to the Network Operations team. This role is integral to our operations, ensuring the reliability of electrical distribution systems.

You will receive a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package, including a performance-related bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Electrical Fitters in maintaining high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems, with opportunities to expand skills to the 33KV network.
  • Engage in formal training to achieve qualifications as a fitter, observing best practices in safety and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist in restoring LV supplies during fault situations and emergencies.
  • Participate in the upkeep of electrical equipment on the LV and 11KV networks.
  • Conduct inspections of substations and report any hazards or defects through the proper channels.
  • Ensure that all work complies with established quality standards and procedures.
  • Act as a representative of UK Power Networks, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
  • Work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrate a proactive and safe approach to unexpected hazardous conditions.
  • Interact with the public, emergency services, and local authorities during critical situations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSE level education or equivalent.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and safety regulations.
  • Experience working at heights or in confined spaces is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with the Electricity at Work Act and ability to interpret electrical diagrams.
  • Awareness of health and safety policies related to network standards.
  • A valid UK driving license is mandatory.
