Position: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Hourly Rate: £12.82

Location: Christchurch

Are you a skilled Teaching Assistant with extensive knowledge in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and experience in supporting children with behavioral challenges and additional requirements? Do you excel in facilitating small group interventions and providing personalized support to students who require tailored assistance?

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in the Christchurch area.

This school is committed to fostering an inclusive and innovative environment for all students. Their passionate team of educators strives to ensure that every child enjoys their educational journey and is encouraged to achieve their maximum potential. Although the institution operates as a mainstream primary school, they are specifically looking for a Teaching Assistant to support students with SEN needs, particularly those who may be working below their expected key stage or facing difficulties in engaging with learning and social activities. Previous experience in SEN and as a teaching assistant is essential for this position.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting educators in implementing effective behavior management techniques.
  • Providing tailored support to students experiencing behavioral difficulties.
  • Collaborating with the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and other professionals to create individualized intervention strategies.
  • Promoting the overall well-being of students and contributing to a positive school culture.
  • Creating a supportive environment for children who are struggling to keep pace with their peers.
  • Managing low-level behavioral issues and attachment challenges among students.
  • Offering constructive feedback to teachers after working with pupils and leading interventions.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience working with children in an educational context.
  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies and understanding of SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient and compassionate approach to supporting students with diverse needs.

  • A DBS registered to the update service or a willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
