Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Bloor Homes. As a key member of our construction team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our building projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of sub-contract/supplier enquiry lists for approval, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
  • Prepare full enquiry packs, collate tender information, and issue compliant tender packs to sub-contractors.
  • Prepare tender comparison sheets, including recommendations for placing subcontract orders and negotiating with sub-contractors to ensure compliance with specification and best practice.
  • Prepare detailed breakdowns of build costs, including infrastructure costings, and update the New Site Start Appraisal (NSSA) accordingly.
  • Ensure new sub-contractors are registered on the SMAS database and maintain up-to-date certification.
  • Carry out drawing take-offs, produce labour-only rates, and maintain databases in liaison with the Senior Surveyor, Commercial Manager, and Construction Department.
  • Update and produce the SWMP plan and Carriers Matrix, including updating Licence Numbers and expiry dates, and distribute to site as necessary.
  • Analyse, check, and prepare interim payments for approval in line with Authorisation Levels and Commercial Procedures, maintaining payment record sheets and highlighting claims for additional works outside of the budget estimate summary.
  • Issue variation instructions and contra charges as appropriate.
  • Pricing non-standard client extras and liaising with the Commercial Manager and Construction Department to ensure costings are correct.
  • Update the Cost of Sales in Viability Manager for client extras after re-budgets and valuations.
  • Carry out monthly progress checklists for all sites and input data into the valuation system, including MOS.
  • Conduct monthly valuations, producing the Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) and Cost to Complete Sheet (CTC), and attend Valuation Meetings.
  • Liaise with the Housing Association, producing invoices and H & S packs as required, and attend site meetings.
  • Liaise with the Design & Technical Department regarding specification for Code for Sustainable Homes and produce schedules and backup information as necessary.
  • Regularly attend sites to provide assistance and support to site staff, including meetings with sub-contractors.
  • Assist in the production of the Group Rebate Form.
  • Attend meetings necessary for the performance of duties.
  • Comply with and uphold company policies and procedures.
  • Undertake additional tasks as reasonably required from time to time.
  • Maintain all health and safety aspects associated with Covid-19.
