About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our Family Time Service as a casual Family Time Worker. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people by providing family time with parents and significant others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise family time sessions between children in the care of the Local Authority and their birth relatives.
  • Transport and escort children and young people.
  • Write observational reports of family time sessions to an agreed format and within agreed time scales.
  • Attend and participate in planning meetings or reviews, as required.
  • Follow the departmental safeguarding procedures always.
  • Attend supervision and training courses in relation to the tasks, as required.
  • Develop an adequate knowledge of departmental operational procedures.
  • Attend 75% of team meetings as part of training requirements.
  • Be aware of the Council's aims, organisational values and behaviours and their impact on this post.
  • Participate in the Council's performance management processes.
  • Carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the Council's diversity policy.
  • Carry out all duties and responsibilities with reasonable care for the health and safety of you and any other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work and to co-operate fully with the Council in health and safety matters.

About You

You will hold a recognised qualification in care work with vulnerable children, young people, and families such as NVQ Level 2.

Have appropriate experience of working with the relevant client group and understanding of the relevant statutory frameworks/requirements and practical knowledge of a range of procedures and interventions to support families.

You will have sensitivity and empathy to build trusting and supportive relationships with families and skills to influence, persuade and motivate them to achieve agreed goals and targets.
