Westview Playgroup, a reputable community-based childcare organization, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager to lead our vibrant nursery on a full-time basis. The position is available for an immediate start.
As the Nursery Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our children. You will be responsible for enriching children's lives, developing and delivering outstanding educational programs, and ensuring all aspects of their safety and well-being.
Westview Playgroup is a well-established childcare provider located in a desirable area, offering a well-equipped, safe, and comfortable environment for children from the age of 2. We have a large outdoor space, used year-round, and are Ofsted registered with a Good rating. We are a charity, led by a Committee, and are committed to providing high-quality childcare services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring child safety and following child protection procedures diligently.
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for children.
- Developing and implementing strategic plans to enhance the nursery's educational programs and services, upholding the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.
- Strategically planning, organizing, and leading staff in a variety of activities that foster creativity, development, coordination, independence, self-expression, and collaborative and independent learning through play.
- Coordinating the drawing up of long-term, medium-term, and sessional curriculum plans with members of staff, taking into account the requirements of the EYFS.
- Acting as a key person to a group of children, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents/carers, and ensuring each child's needs and progress are recognized and met.
- Overseeing and assisting with children's personal care, including nappy changing, toilet training, and other welfare duties, ensuring high standards of hygiene and care.
- Leading, managing, and developing a team of nursery staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture.
- Monitoring and evaluating staff performance, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Leading and facilitating team meetings, scheduling and planning supervisory meetings to ensure effective staff communication and development.
- Pursuing ongoing professional development by attending relevant training courses and taking responsibility for your own growth.
- Maintaining complete confidentiality of any information regarding children, their families, or staff acquired in the course of your duties.
- Being responsible for implementing a system of observation and record-keeping so that children's progress and achievements are effectively and regularly assessed.
- Managing nursery budgets, resources, and supplies efficiently to optimize operational effectiveness.
- Handling administrative duties, including record-keeping, reporting, and policy development.
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintaining high standards of care and education.
- Carrying out Health and Safety checks as required, to ensure the Playgroup is tidy, safe, clean, and secure for children, staff, parents/carers, and visitors.
- Carrying out regular risk assessments.
- Ensuring all operational policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with the latest guidance from Education People and sector best practice.
- Acting as an ambassador for the setting, building and maintaining strong relationships with parents, caregivers, and the local community.
- Promoting the nursery through marketing initiatives and community outreach to attract new pupils to the setting.
Qualifications:
- A recognized qualification in Early Years Education (e.g., Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
Experience:
- Proven experience in a leadership role within an early years setting, with a strong track record of managing a team and delivering high-quality childcare.
Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and other relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
Organisational Skills:
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Child Protection:
- Comprehensive knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
Health and Safety:
- Thorough understanding of health and safety requirements in a childcare setting.
Financial & IT Skills:
- Basic financial management skills, with the ability to manage budgets and resources efficiently.
Flexibility:
- Willingness to adapt to changing circumstances and work flexible hours as needed.
Professional Development:
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
