Job Summary:
NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Outreach Nurse Specialist to join our Therapeutic Apheresis Services team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting lifesaving treatments for patients across the region.
- Perform therapeutic apheresis and cell collection procedures in paediatrics and adults, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
- Plan and deliver nursing care for patients and donors, providing expert advice and guidance as needed.
- Work within a total quality management system approach, maintaining nursing practice standards to meet local regulatory frameworks, licences, and laws.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with key stakeholders, supporting patient-centred care and quality and safety.
- Provide clinical support and supervision to less experienced staff and student nurses, promoting clinical knowledge and expertise.
- Travel and spend time away from base, working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.
- Demonstrate experience of planning, implementing, and evaluating changes in clinical practice, as well as working to performance objectives and organisational targets.
- Initiate and support the professional development of self and others, mentoring and coaching staff in the clinical environment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of clinical audit and research, with experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages.
- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (RN1 or RNA) with post-registration experience and a degree in a clinical area.
- NMC professional registration (which must be maintained in the role).
- Awareness of current issues in nursing, with a valid driving licence allowing you to drive in the UK.
- Commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).
