Position Overview

Godolphin Management Co Ltd is on the lookout for a dedicated and enthusiastic Apprentice Gallops Groundsperson to become a vital part of our team at Godolphin Stables, Newmarket. The chosen candidate will receive comprehensive support while pursuing the Level 2 Sports Turf Operative Apprenticeship, which is designed to be completed over an 18-month period.


Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Gallops Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and maintaining the eight and five furlong grass gallops.
  • Overseeing the canter down, warm-up, and warm-down rings.
  • Performing essential tasks such as grass cutting, strimming, fertiliser application, general gallop repairs, and overseeding.
  • Gaining experience in operating equipment like teleporters, tractors, and mini diggers.
  • Maintaining and servicing sports turf machinery and equipment.

Qualifications

A minimum of grade 2 (E) or above in Math and English GCSE is preferred, along with a clean driving licence.
