MTrec Technical is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Advise senior management on health and safety laws and updates.
- Ensure that safety procedures and working practices comply with legislative requirements and company values.
- Oversee the reporting of accidents and incidents, and investigate and record them in accordance with RIDDOR guidelines.
- Monitor and take appropriate action on accident and incident investigations, complaints, and cases of ill health.
- Undertake risk assessments and site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Produce inspection analysis and reports to suggest improvements and ensure compliance with ISO 45001 standards.
- Deliver and coordinate training programs, including first aid and fire marshal services, to ensure consistency across all sites.
- Chair and coordinate health and safety meetings for the Scarborough site.
- Assist with conducting health and safety audits and oversee audits by external insurers.
- Make presentations to groups of employees and managers to communicate health and safety policies and procedures.
- Liaise with relevant authorities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Report on the performance of the site's health and safety management system to top management.
- Qualified with an occupational health and safety qualification, such as a NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma.
- Proven ability to acquire and apply detailed legal, technical, and regulatory information.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with difficult situations.
- Positive, proactive, and professional approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand processes, tasks, and operations.
- Leadership and persuasive skills, with the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively.
- Calm, patient, and assertive, with excellent negotiation skills.
- Driving license is desirable.
- Willingness to travel to other UK-based site locations.
