Job Description

**Job Title:** Defence Systems Engineer

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Defence Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Defence Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for executing Systems Engineering activities within multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring mechanical, electrical, and software designs are integrated and that the system ultimately meets customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • **Requirements Capture and Management:** Capture and manage system requirements to ensure they are complete, consistent, and unambiguous.
  • **Functional and Physical Systems Architecture Design and Definition:** Develop and maintain functional and physical systems architecture designs and definitions to ensure they meet customer requirements.
  • **System Modelling:** Develop and maintain system models to ensure they accurately represent the system and its components.
  • **Engineering Management Plans:** Develop and maintain Engineering Management Plans (Safety Management, Test Integration & Acceptance, Technical Risk Management) to ensure the system is designed and developed in accordance with customer requirements.
  • **Verification Evidence:** Gather and maintain verification evidence to ensure the system meets customer requirements.
  • **Procurement Specifications:** Develop and maintain procurement specifications for sub-systems and components to ensure they meet customer requirements.
  • **Test Specifications:** Develop and maintain test specifications to ensure the system is tested in accordance with customer requirements.
  • **Design Reviews:** Conduct design reviews to ensure the system is designed and developed in accordance with customer requirements.
  • **Environmental Qualification Plans:** Develop and maintain environmental qualification plans (EMC, Temperature, Shock & Vibration) to ensure the system is designed and developed in accordance with customer requirements.
Requirements:
  • **Essential:** A degree in Engineering or physical sciences, 1-3 years of systems engineering experience in a defence or similar industry, proficient in using requirements management tools (DOORS, Visure, or R4J), work package management experience in JIRA, strong report writing skills.
  • **Desirable:** Experience with the full development lifecycle of a product, experience working with internal and external stakeholders, experience working in multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects, knowledge of safety management standards (MIL-STD 882E, DEF-STAN 00-56, ISO 12100:2010), statutory compliance knowledge (CE marking), familiarity with camera sensor technology (Infrared and visible spectrum, DRI performance), experience with fault-tree and failure mode analysis.
