Estimator Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Randstad Construction & Property. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in preparing accurate cost estimates for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Estimation: Analyze project specifications, drawings, and contracts to develop comprehensive estimates for roads, paving, and other civil works.
  • Tender Preparation: Prepare and submit tenders, ensuring all necessary documentation and pricing strategies are included to secure new business.
  • Cost Planning and Management: Collaborate with project teams to manage cost plans, ensuring budgets are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Supplier and Subcontractor Liaison: Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiate pricing, and assess their capabilities to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and assess the financial impact to ensure estimates reflect realistic outcomes.
  • Market Research: Keep up to date with industry trends, pricing, and materials to provide competitive and informed estimates.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the pre-construction, commercial, and delivery teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimate to execution.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Provide detailed reports on estimates, including breakdowns of labor, material, and equipment costs, and track actual project costs against the original estimate.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, ideally within civil engineering (roads, paving, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of current building regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
